Extracellular vesicles released by polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons-treated hepatocytes trigger oxidative stress in recipient hepatocytes by delivering…

A growing body of evidences indicate the major role of extracellular vesicles (EVs) as players of cell communication in the pathogenesis of liver diseases. EVs are membrane-enclosed vesicles released by cells into the extracellular environment.

[Budding yeast, a model and a tool… also for biomedical research].

Yeast has been used for thousands of years as a leavening agent and for alcoholic fermentation, but it is only in 1857 that Louis Pasteur described the microorganism at the basis of these two tremendously important economic activities.

A Peak of H3T3 Phosphorylation Occurs in Synchrony with Mitosis in Sea Urchin Early Embryos.

The sea urchin embryo provides a valuable system to analyse the molecular mechanisms orchestrating cell cycle progression and mitosis in a developmental context. However, although it is known that the regulation of histone activity by post-translational modification plays an important role during cell division, the dynamics and the impact of these modifications have not been characterised in detail in a developing embryo.

Microwave-Assisted Synthesis of Potential Bioactive Benzo-, Pyrido- or Pyrazino-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-amine Analogs of MPC-6827.

Efficient microwave-assisted chemical processes were applied to the synthesis of an array of novel N-(4-methoxyphenylamino)-2-methyl benzo-, pyrido- or pyrazino-thieno[3,2-d]pyrimidin-4-amine derivatives.

Gold(I)-Catalyzed Intramolecular Hydroamination and Hydroalkoxylation of Alkynes: Access to Original Heterospirocycles.

We report here a simple and robust gold-catalyzed annulation reaction, giving N- and O-spirocycles in good to excellent yields. We have prepared a library of protected amines and tertiary alcohols that give, upon cyclization with alkynes, a representative set of heterospirocycles and illustrate reaction compatibility with diverse functional groups.

Synthesis and evaluation of C3 substituted chalcone-based derivatives of 7-azaindole as protein kinase inhibitors.

Chalcones are a group of naturally occurring or synthetic compounds which possess a wide range of biological activities. In this paper, a series of twenty-three 7-azaindole-chalcone hybrids (5a-w) were synthesized and evaluated as potential protein kinase inhibitors.

Molecular profiling of stroma highlights stratifin as a novel biomarker of poor prognosis in pancreatic ductal…

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a deadly cancer worldwide, as a result of a late diagnosis and limited therapeutic options. Tumour microenvironment (or stroma) plays a key role in cancer onset and progression and constitutes an intrinsic histological hallmark of PDAC. Thus we hypothesised that relevant prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets can be identified in the stroma.
