Molecular profiling of stroma highlights stratifin as a novel biomarker of poor prognosis in pancreatic ductal…

Pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) is a deadly cancer worldwide, as a result of a late diagnosis and limited therapeutic options. Tumour microenvironment (or stroma) plays a key role in cancer onset and progression and constitutes an intrinsic histological hallmark of PDAC. Thus we hypothesised that relevant prognostic biomarkers and therapeutic targets can be identified in the stroma.

Cross-Species Proteomics Identifies CAPG and SBP1 as Crucial Invasiveness Biomarkers in Rat and Human Malignant Mesothelioma.

Malignant mesothelioma (MM) still represents a devastating disease that is often detected too late, while the current effect of therapies on patient outcomes remains unsatisfactory. Invasiveness biomarkers may contribute to improving early diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment for patients, a task that could benefit from the development of high-throughput proteomics.

Cyclin D1 targets hexokinase 2 to control aerobic glycolysis in myeloma cells.

Cancer cells are characterized by the Warburg effect, a shift from mitochondrial respiration to oxidative glycolysis. We report here the crucial role of cyclin D1 in promoting this effect in a cyclin-dependent kinase (CDK)4/6-independent manner in multiple myeloma (MM) cells. We show that the cyclin D1 oncoprotein targets hexokinase 2 (HK2), a major glycolysis regulator, through two original molecular mechanisms in the cytoplasmic and nuclear compartments.

LINGO family receptors are differentially expressed in the mouse brain and form native multimeric complexes.

Leucine-rich repeat and immunoglobin-domain containing (LRRIG) proteins that are commonly involved in protein-protein interactions play important roles in nervous system development and maintenance. LINGO-1, one of this family members, is characterized as a negative regulator of neuronal survival, axonal regeneration, and oligodendrocyte precursor cell (OPC) differentiation into mature myelinating oligodendrocytes.

Chemotherapy efficacy after first-line immunotherapy in 18 advanced melanoma patients.

n BRAF wild type advanced melanoma, immune checkpoint blockers such as anti-PD1 (anti-programmed cell death 1) are usually continued beyond progression for a hypothetical rare further response. Chemotherapy as a second-line option is considered ineffective by many practitioners based on historical data.
